The 2023 Agricultural Census (ST2023) is the seventh Agricultural Census conducted by the Central Statistics Agency. The previous Agricultural Census was carried out in 1963, 1973, 1983, 1993, 2003, and 2013. The 2023 Agricultural Census refers to the 2020 World Program for the Census of Agriculture created by the Food and Agriculture Organization of The United Nations (FAO). The main objective of the agricultural census activity is to obtain complete and accurate agricultural statistical data for planning and evaluating development outcomes, especially in the agricultural sector.
ST2023 is a major activity that consists of a series of activity stages starting with planning, preparation, data collection, data processing, data presentation and analysis. ST2023 activities have been started since 2021 and it is planned that all activities will end in 2024. The ST2023 series of activities begins with the implementation of trials carried out in four districts as well as other activities related to ST2023 preparation. In 2021, the ST2023 Dirty Rehearsal was held in five selected provinces. In 2022, a two-stage rehearsal will be held, one of which is located in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
The enumeration in GBII ST2023 includes all businesses that are engaged in one of the agricultural sub-sectors, namely: food crops, horticulture, plantations, animal husbandry, fisheries, and forestry. In Bima district, the business units covered by this activity include individual agricultural businesses (UTP), agricultural companies with legal entities (UPB), and other agricultural businesses (UTL). The location for the GBII ST2023 enumeration for UTP is in the village of Talabiu, Woha Regency. The GBII ST2023 enumeration for UTL and UPB was spread throughout Bima district.
In GBII ST2023, which was held in Bima district, a trial was conducted on three modes of enumeration. The counting mode used to enumerate UTP is PAPI. Meanwhile, for UPB and UTL enumeration, CAPI and CAWI were used.
It is hoped that the implementation of GBII ST2023 can gather experience in filling out the ST2023 questionnaire by going directly to the field so that reliable questionnaires are obtained, business process trials in the field, and evaluating data collection methods. Thus, in 2023, the implementation of ST2023 can run better and optimally.
